My work systematically deconstructs the logics of language in effort to access the moments when knowledge and insights are first conceived. The processes that I develop question the philosophical links between intention and consequence, presence and absence, and emptiness and implication. Knowledge and insight originate as abstract content. The gestation and translation period of ideas systematically removes critically important content in exchange for “communicable thoughts”. Concerned with the reductive, and potentially destructive nature of language, I co-opt and subvert traditional sources of information such as books, articles, and notes to explore the nature of language as it relates to the search for knowledge and meaning. The resulting paintings, installations, videos and resurfaced objects inhabit the space between this and that, present and absent, confusion and understanding, inarticulate and nameable.
